It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Casimiro Angelo Maiocco, who died peacefully at home on August 4, 2025, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by the love and presence of his devoted family.
Casimiro was the beloved husband of Anna Maria for 38 years, a dedicated father to Cristina (Claude Richard) and Francesca, and a proud Nonno to Pascal and Rosaria. He was the cherished son of Teresa and the late Pasquale Maiocco (2009), and loving brother to Mario and Anne Marie (Michael Pala).
He will be deeply missed by his brothers-in-law Joseph De Lorenzis (Susan) and Frank De Lorenzis (Anna Rita), and remembered with affection by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, colleagues, and friends. Casimiro is predeceased by his parents-in-law Oronzo and Ippazia De Lorenzis, his sister-in-law Peta De Lorenzis, and his brother-in-law Mario Di Gravio, with whom he shared both a family bond and a professional partnership.
Casimiro faced his illness with unwavering strength, grace, and resilience. He was a man of deep faith and love for God. He was happiest when spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored.
Casimiro immigrated to Canada from Villa Santa Maria, Chieti, Italy at the age of six. He graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law in 1975 and was called to the Bar in 1977. He began his career in Toronto, working with two leading law firms specializing in business, corporate law, and taxation. In the 1980’s, he returned to Guelph to open his own practice, where he served the community with integrity and commitment. He was later joined by his late brother-in-law, Mario Di Gravio.
Casimiro’s warmth, intelligence, and generosity of spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched—through his family, his faith, and his lifelong service to others.
Visitation will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home – Dublin Chapel (252 Dublin St. N., Guelph) on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. with vigil prayers at 3:30 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish (98 Alice St., Guelph), followed by entombment at Marymount Cemetery (5400 Hwy. 6, Guelph).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Casimiro’s memory be made to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul – Guelph & Fergus, the Canadian Cancer Society, or Diabetes Canada.
