Donnell Daly

DALY, Donnell Russell passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at Hospice Wellington on Friday, December 6, 2013. Donn was the beloved husband of 57 years to Joan (LaFontaine) Daly. He was the son of the late Russell and Reta Daly, brother to Geraldine Winer and predeceased by his brother Allan. Loving father of Suzanne Phillips, Christopher, Shannon, Megan (Joseph Ramseyer) and Kerry Ann. Cherished grandfather of 4, great-grandfather of 4 and a good friend to many. Donn was a long-time Wyndham Street businessman, the Separate School Board representative to the Public School Board, member of the Board at St. Joseph’s Hospital, actively involved in community activities in particular the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Kiwanis Club (Camp Belwood), past President of the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, member of Wellington Men’s Club and the ROMEO’s, and a strong Liberal supporter. Donn has had many interests over his lifetime but always enjoyed to be active (tennis, football, walks, reading, playing card games and adventures on the road) yet he always made time for the love of his family and friends. He will be best remembered for his sense of humour, his zest for life and sharing stories of some of his shenanigans. His family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St., on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 3-5 (prayer time 3:15) and 7-9 p.m. Mass will be Celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Rd., on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow.
