Elizabeth Hubbard, Jan. 14, 1930 to Jan. 22, 2016 Peacefully and with all of the dignity she had in life, at the Palliative Care Unit of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Friday, January 22, 2016. “Betty”, beloved wife of the late Ernest (Ernie). Loving mother to Linda(Michael Lloyd) of Guelph and Caroline (Basil Horangic) of San Francisco, and the late Jane. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Theodora, Helen, and Basil Ernest. A good mother is a gift to any child, and among good mothers, ours was the very best. She loved animals, beautiful shoes, chocolate, a good laugh and a stiff gin and tonic, but nothing as much as she loved her family. The 49 years she and our dad Ernie spent together were a filled with joy, laughter, and respect – a true love story. Through her long life our mother shared many gifts with us but not the least of which is the gift of mental toughness and strength. To paraphrase a wonderful quote that sums up one of our mother’s best qualities perfectly: “A mother is not only a person on whom to lean, but one to teach that leaning is unnecessary.” Visitation at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 & 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A celebration of Betty’s life to follow this summer. Although our mother loved flowers she also loved animals so tributes to the Ontario SPCA & Humane Society (http://www.ontariospca.ca/) in her name would be sincerely appreciated.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 2:00 - 4:00 & 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. at the Hart Chapel.
