

Peacefully passed away in his 83rd year, at Guelph General Hospital, on Monday, May 12, 2014. Survived by his dear wife Gloria Anne (nee Noonan) of 57 years, his children Paul (Wally) and his wife Kelley, John and his wife Kim, Elizabeth, and Nancy and her husband Ken Rilling. Cherished grandfather of Emma, Ben and Madeline Carter, Harrison and Hayley Carter, and Marcus Rilling. Dear brother of Ann Marie Allen and brother-in-law of Ted and Barb Noonan. Ernie will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and by friends in Guelph, St. Mary’s, Toronto, and New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Predeceased by his parents Douglas and Annie Carter, sister Geraldine Shannon, and in-laws Edward and Meryl Noonan. Graduate of GCVI and Ontario Agriculture College (OAC) 1955. Employee of Campbell Soup Limited for 38 years, and the Agricultural Canada Food Agency for 6 years. Ernie’s interests included golf, tennis and winters in Florida. He was a long standing member of Guelph-Wellington Men’s Club and he was a member of Holy Rosary Parish, Guelph. The family will receive friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph (519-821-5077) on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Vigil at 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Private family burial at Marymount Cemetery at a later date.
