George Allen Lazenby

It is with great sadness that we announce George Allen Lazenby passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Guelph General Hospital with his wife by his side. George was born on September 13, 1945 in Guelph to Dorothy & George. He is survived by his beloved wife Patricia of 35 years. He was the loving father of Allen Lazenby and Shelley (Lazenby) Thornton and their spouses Alana and Bryan. Grandpa George will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Isabel, Breanna, Henry, Gabriella and Emmett. He is survived by his sister Shirley and brother Pat. George was preceded in death by his siblings Bill and Mike.

George lived life to the fullest and loved his family. Most will remember him for being a referee in the OHL and the chief umpire for Guelph Minor Baseball. He was a man who worked hard and loved his family and friends. He enjoyed simple pleasures like having a drink on a sunny day or sitting by the campfire at night with his loved ones. His favorite pastime was fishing with his best friend Bobby.

There will be a service to celebrate George’s life with both family and friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Sons Funeral Home, the Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph. The service will be on Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 12-1pm.
