George Kirk Shirton

Shirton, George George passed away at St. Joseph's Health Care Centre on Tuesday, September 9, 2008 in his 85th year. Beloved husband of 58 years to Betty (Greenwood) Shirton. Dear father of George Shirton and his wife Luanne. Cherished grandfather of Kate and Kevin, all of Guelph. Brother of Mary Andres of Toronto. George grew up in Waterford Ontario, and served overseas in WWII in the Canadian Armoured Corp, B.C. Dragoons. After WWII, he graduated from the University of Toronto in 1949, as a Professional Engineer. He was a Vice President of Concrete Products for Standard Industries, serving the company for 40 years. George was active in the Rotary Club of Guelph, Guelph Probis Club and the Guelph Men's Wellington Club. Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Thursday, September 11, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, September 12, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow.
