Helen Maud Blair

BLAIR, Helen Maud: March 25th, 1913-November 6th, 2010 - Helen, having loved life for 97 years, passed away at Riverside Glen in Guelph on November 6th, 2010. She is, and will always be, lovingly remembered by her children, Nancy Liscombe and her husband Ken and Geoffrey Blair and his wife Catherine. Dear grandmother of Sarah, David (Rosalyn), Alec, William and John, and great-grandmother of Claire. Helen was the devoted and loving wife of J. Kenneth Blair who passed away in 2009. They met at the University of Toronto, Victoria College where she studied for her BA and Social Work degrees. They were married for 72 years. Born and raised in Lindsay, Ontario, Helen was a wonderful friend all her life to many from that town, as well as those from Toronto during her university years, from Halifax during the war and finally from Guelph where she and Ken lived and raised a family. She dearly loved her cottage at Long Point, Balsam Lake where she spent every summer since childhood. Helen was always grateful for the wonderful life she and her family had and remarked often over the years, "We are so lucky". She taught us the importance of gratitude and we are so thankful for her life. We also want to extend our thanks to the wonderful staff at Riverside Glen Long Term Care and to Dr. David Hood for all the care they provided for her over the past years. Private cremation has taken place and a A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dublin Chapel, Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, Ontario. Helen's ashes will be interred with those of her beloved husband, J. Kenneth Blair, at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph. In lieu of flowers, donations made in memory of Helen may be directed to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or a charity of one's choice.
