SHAW, Shirley Jean, surrounded by family at Hospice Wellington on July 16, 2013, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Jean (Keith) Shaw in her 77th year, joyfully joins her beloved soulmate and husband of 54 years, the late Alexander Shaw (January 4, 2013). Cherished mother of Stuart & Adrienne Shaw of Parry Sound and Jackie & Andy Sanvido of Guelph. Her legacy continues in her adored grandchildren Andrew & Rachael Shaw and Danielle, Nicole and Lauren Sanvido. Treasured Aunt to Wendy & Jason Hardy, Derek, Roxanne & Paige (Oscar) Evans. Predeceased by sisters Muriel & Jackie & brother Jimmy. Dear sister to Eleanor Collins & sister-in-law of Bill Rowley and Marion Galbraith. Loving aunt to Steve, Beth, Keith, Scott, Danny & Dana Collins, Stuart, Nancy & David Munro, Lisa Munro Jones , Donna Allen (Jack), Paul Allen and Ross & Scott Galbraith. Jean's cheery voice and bright smile greeted visitors, staff and students at King George School for 27 years until her retirement, when she & Alex really started to live! European travel, family vacations and daily trips to the Tim Horton's at Stone Rd Mall. Jean's love of music lead her to the Overtones, with whom she performed and competed for 10 years. She & Alex built their home on Waverley drive in 1965, and proceeded to make memories with family friends and neighbours. Jean leaves behind good friends Leone, Sylvia, Susan & Lois in the neighbourhood to remember her. The joy of Jean's life was her family. Family events, birthdays and holidays rang with her laughter. There were never enough family dinners for her to catch up with all her kids! She was head cheerleader at every grandchild's sporting event, competition & dance recital. She was never more than a phone call away for babysitting, taxi service or to open Grammie's weekend Bed & Breakfast. Her unconditional love & support were a constant in not only the lives of her children & grandchildren, but extended to her whole family and neighbours. Jean leaves behind family, and a multitude of friends, neighbours and co-workers to remember her joyful smile and genuinely kind and gentle nature. She is now, once again, dancing with Alex. Jean's family will receive friends and family at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Friday, July 19, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with cremation.
