Heynen, John W. August 4, 1928-May 25, 2013 It is with profound sorrow that we announce John’s passing on Saturday, May 25, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Healthcare in Guelph. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Nell, his son Ian, his daughter-in-law Janice Wilcox-Heynen, his three grandchildren, Bronwyn, Foster, and Cole, and many family members the world over. John and Nell emigrated from the Netherlands to Canada in the 60’s, and built a wonderful life and family in their new country. Proudly Canadian, John had a long and successful career with Owens-Corning, loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time sailing and gardening. He actively helped others in the community wherever he could – he was a Big Brother & friend to many. He was, and will always be, a source of humour, love and inspiration to his family. John lived his final years with Alzheimers Disease demonstrating the optimism & resilience he showed his entire life. We are deeply grateful to the staff at St. Joseph’s who supported John and Nell over the past several years. The family will host a visitation at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph on Tuesday, May 28, 2013 from 7 pm to 9 pm, and a funeral on Wednesday May 29th at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or St. Josephs Foundation. Cards are available at the funeral home (519-821-5077) and condolences may be left for the family at www.gilbertmacintyreandson.com When I come to the end of the road, And the sun has set for me, I want no tears or gloom-filled room, Why cry for a soul set free. Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love we all shared, Miss me, but let me go.
A celebration of Mr. Heynen's life will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.
