It is with great sadness that our family shares the news of the passing of Joseph Paul O’Kane on Saturday May 27, 2023 at Guelph General Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 59.
He is survived by his wife Deborah, his children Joe (Rain), Shona (Jesse Boles) and Nicholas of Guelph ON. Parents Mary & Joseph O’Kane of Guelph. He will be missed by his sister Patricia (Rich Staines) of Guelph, ON and his brothers Kevin (Lori Seabrooke) of Cambridge, ON and Paul (Bob Tranchida) of Palm Desert, CA. He will be deeply missed by his nieces and nephews Taylor, Siobhan, Ainslee, Rowan and Rory. Joe was a devoted grandfather to Keegan and Kaiden of Guelph.
Joe was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and moved to Canada as a young man, he grew up in Guelph. He loved his Irish heritage and was looking forward to a planned trip in the coming months. Joe was a passionate advocate for mental health and recovery. His life wasn’t always easy and faced many struggles but his family was his foundation and were the center of his life. He loved them all deeply. Joe made many many friends over the years and remained close with all of his cousins, aunts and uncles.
Resting at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, where the family will receive friends on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 12 noon – 2:30 p.m. A private family service and cremation to follow.
