

SILVESTRO, Luigi (Gigi):-May 6, 1929- May 13, 2011. It is with great sadness that the family of Gigi Silvestro announce his peaceful passing at the Homewood Health Centre, Guelph. Beloved husband of Theresa (Ferraro) Silvestro for 52 years. Cherished and respected father and father-in-law of Rosemary and her husband Peter Misurka; Mike and his wife Sonia and Pat and his wife Christine all of Guelph. Devoted Nonno to his three precious grand-daughters, Melissa Misurka; Marlo and Lauren Silvestro. Loved brother-in-law of Tina and Aldo Tersigni and Roseanne Ferraro. Gigi was predeceased by his parents Michelangelo and Maria Rosa Silvestro, his brothers and sister-in-law Pasquale and Nancy Silvestro and Giuseppe Silvestro. Also predeceased by his parents-in-law Frank and Caterina Ferraro and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Angie and Len Reynolds. Gigi was born in San Giorgio Morgeto Calabria, Italy and immigrated to Hamilton, Ontario in 1950. After working several years in Hamilton, Gigi accomplished his goal of opening his own business. In 1958, Modern Shoe Repair was established in downtown Guelph which he successfully owned until 1974. At this time, Gigi pursued a new challenge and purchased Arcade Clothing and Footwear, which he operated for 30 years until his well-deserved retirement. Heartfelt and sincere thanks to Drs Luthra and Hundal and the very dedicated and compassionate nursing and support staff of the Hamilton Three Ward at the Homewood Health Centre. Their extraordinary care of Gigi in his final two years will never be forgotten. Resting at the GILBERT MacINTYRE and SON FUNERAL HOME, DUBLIN CHAPEL, 252 Dublin Street North, Guelph (Monday & Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm) Funeral on Wednesday morning, May 18th, to St. John's Church, 45 Victoria Road North, Guelph, for Funeral Mass at 10:00 o'clock. Entombment Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetrey. Vigil for Gigi on Tuesday afternoon at 3:45 o;clock.
