She shuffled off this mortal coil with dignity on August 5th, 2024. She was born in Garden City, Kansas on January 13th, 1947. Raised until aged 13 in Monroe, Louisiana, Patti moved to Canada with her family in 1960. She attended Aldershot H.S. where she met her future husband Blair.
A lifelong learner, Patti began post secondary in nursing at Northeastern State College with friends Pat and Paige, in Louisiana. Later, she would get a B.A. in teaching from McMaster University and specialty areas in theology, counselling, and Special Ed. from York University. Patti was a teacher and guidance counsellor from 1968-2011 in Halton, Hamilton-Wentworth, and Wellington County School Boards.
Patti had many interests allowing her a full and satisfying life. From barrel racing on a horse named Buzz, to gardening, to being a farmhand, to self-expression through arts and crafts (quilting, painting and mixed media to name a few). She spent many hours researching the genealogy of her ancestry, and was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution. Often reading several books at once, she kept copious notes which made Patti an integral member of her long-time book club. However, perhaps Patti’s star shone brightest during her summer vacations at Clearview Cottage Resort; family fun for 47 years.
Patti is survived by a sister (Ann), and a best friend and daughter, Ashlie (Wade).
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 252 Dublin St. N, Guelph. There will be no service as per Patti’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers please donate in her honour to the Guelph Humane Society.
