McCARTHY, Patrick Loyola— Passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Patrick L. McCarthy, in his 93rd year, was the beloved husband of the late Norma (nee Larson) McCarthy (2001). He was the dear father of Charles (Sabrina Cruz) and loving grandfather of Amanda, Christopher, Therese, Patrick, Anna Marie, David, Joseph, Benedict and Brendan and the late Nicholas (August 19, 2015). Patrick was a veteran paratrooper of the Princess Patricia’s Regiment during the Korean War. He then went on to join the RCAF in the early 1950’s, where he was posted on the DEW line in Northern Quebec. From there, he retired from the Air Force in 1968 and he became a teacher, in both elementary and high schools. At age 65, in his retirement, he started teaching at the Guelph Correctional Centre. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, Guelph, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. Interment, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
