Pietro Franchetto

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Pietro Franchetto, January 15th, 2022, at the age of 79

Loving husband to Bruna (nee Milani) of 55 years. Beloved father to Milva Franchetto, Alida Franchetto, Paulo Franchetto (Rachel Sanvido). Cherished Nonno of 7 grandchildren, Sierra, Mikayla, Jaiden, Hunter, Luckas, Marcus and Alexis. Dear Brother of Lino Franchetto(Gabrielle), Ottorino Franchetto. Predeceased by his parents Angelo Franchetto and Milena (Dal Vecchi)

Pietro was born in Vedelago (Casacorba) in the Northern Province of Treviso in 1942. He lived through the Second World War and with help from his older relatives, came to Canada in 1967. Pietro often referred to Canada as the “land of opportunity" and will be remembered for his hard working ability and his special love for gardening, playing borella/bocce, writing religious poetry and a passion for singing. Pietro also had a big heart for others who were in need, often opening his doors and never expecting anything in return. Many great memories will be treasured by his family and friends throughout the Italian community.

Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 24th, 2022 at 11am, with interment at Marymount Cemetery to follow. Those wishing to attend must RSVP via the funeral homes website, wear a mask, and socially distance. For those unable to attend in person, a Zoom link will be available on the funeral homes website the day of the service.
