Snyder, Stanford Robert: At the Guelph General Hospital on Monday, July 22, 2013. Stan Snyder, age 88 years, beloved husband of Rene (Lewis) Snyder, for 64 years. Dear father of Lynn (Richard Cilles) of Kingston, Barbara (Dr. Colin McIntosh) of Sutton, Surrey, England, Rebecca Snyder of Warrenton, Virginia, and Robert (Fran Fonte) of Guelph. Survived by grandchildren Dr. Robbie (Dr. Sarah), Shona (Michael), Caden, Piper, Quinn and great grandfather of Alexander. Stan will be lovingly remembered by Bonnie (Kevin), Sarah and Nicole. The family wish to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and staff of the Guelph General Hospital, Step Down 5 East. Stan was born in Pottsville, PA and served in the US Navy as a Lieutenant on the USS Storm King in the Pacific Theater during WWII. He attended Columbia and Penn State Universities and he and Rene moved to Guelph in 1950. Stan founded Eastern Farm Machinery Ltd. and later Ontario Harvestore Systems. He was past Chairman of the Board of Kenhar Inc., Past President of Farm Equipment Wholesalers Association, Past President of Kiwanis Club of Guelph, and the Guelph Chamber of Commerce. He served on the board of the former Children's Aid Society and several committees at the University of Guelph. In his retirement he and Rene enjoyed their condo at Buttonwood Cove on Longboat Key, Florida, enjoying family, friends and church. His enjoyment of traveling, duplicate bridge, skiing and Talisman, his farms, cattle, and gardening, will be an everlasting memory for family and friends. A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the fellowship lounge. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Foundation of Guelph General Hospital, or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
