We reflect and celebrate the long life of our mother Sylvia Winship. She passed away peacefully in her home August 27, 2025. She is survived by her children Susan (Gary), Geoffrey(Janet), Linda (Mike).
She was an amazing woman, born January 21, 1933 lived through World War II , worked for the Government in England, married a great man, drove a motorbike and purchased a side car when Susan was born. A few years later our parents moved “across the pond” with two children in tow and started a new life with no one around. Two years later another child was born. Our mother volunteered and worked to help support the growing family.
Colour tv, computers, radios, cell phones, self driving cars our mother has seen a lot of changes in the world and embraced it all. After our dad passed she was a trooper. During every baseball, hockey and soccer game she sent a text to our group chat with her Gifs and emojis. She emailed, texted, online grocery shopped, online banking, my mother did it all until a month before her death. She outlived her siblings, our dad, and most of her friends. She often asked why she was still here, we kept telling her that she had a purpose in life…3 kids, 4 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
Mom, we kept our promises to you and dad. We kept you safe and in your own home and we took care of you 24 hours a day until the end.
You were brave and went out on your own terms with stubbornness, wit and humour right to the end. Enjoy life on the other side with dad. We will miss you dearly but know you will be forever in our hearts 🥰 💕 Love you ❤️ A private service has already taken place. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.
