It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Terry Schnurr on December 29th, 2025, at the age of 75. Terry passed peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side, holding his hands, after a long and hard fought battle with his health.
Beloved husband of his wife Betty for 51 years. Loving father to Mark (Trish), Mandy, Peter and Paul. Proud grandfather of Hannah and Eliot. Dear brother of Ross (Marlene), Gord (Patti) and Mary (Gord). Dear brother-in-law of Carol and Linda (Rino). Pre-deceased by his father Leo, mother Bertha, sisters Elaine and Jane, father in law John, mother in law Mary, sister in law Nancy, brothers in law Harvey, Whitey and Bruce, and nephew Mike. Long-time friend to so many, he will be deeply missed by all of his extended family and friends.
Born and raised in Guelph, Terry was a true family man, and his loved ones were his pride and joy. They were his centre to which he was the core. There was nothing he cherished more than spending time together, nor was there anything that he would not do for his family. No matter what it was and no matter the distance, he would be there with strength and leadership. Always, without hesitation. We are proud to have been loved by him.
Terry was a friendly face, a good neighbour, and incredibly hard working - values that were impressed upon those who knew him. Among his hobbies, he greatly enjoyed building and repairing, music and dancing, playing cards, and camping, but what brought him the most satisfaction and peace was gardening and landscaping, or simply being outdoors amongst nature. And as strong as these attributes were, to him they were a distant second to his family.
For nearly 50 years, he managed the produce department of a large corporation, receiving acknowledgments, highlighting his support of provincial produce. His dedication allowed him to support and raise his family in comfort, and his pride in always doing the best job possible without compromise was both challenging and inspiring - his pursuits were an example of the highest standard.
Thank you to Dr. Spadafora, all of the nurses and caregivers from Bayshore and the Guelph General Hospital for their wonderful care over the last few years.
As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations made to The Foundation of Guelph General Hospital or the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
A Memorial Service celebrating Terry’s life will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home located at 252 Dublin St N, Guelph on Saturday January 17th, 2026. Visitation will take place from 10am-12pm, with the Service at 12pm and Reception following.
