Valerie was the youngest of nine children and the beloved daughter of Elizabeth Marie Steffler and John Krusky. Valerie married Robert Cutting (deceased 1987) on February 7, 1959.
Valerie is the proud mother of five children: Robert Cutting (Deceased 2025) (Martha), Michael Cutting, Geoffrey Cutting (Alanna), Valerie Merk (Doug) and Marty Cutting (Lisa).
Loving grandmother to five grandchildren; Michael Cutting (Jennifer), Christopher Cutting, Kendra Cutting, Wesley Cutting (Nicole), and Olivia Sullivan (Brian) and great-grandmother to four great grandchildren: Hannah, Naomi, Oliver and Hailey.
Valerie is survived by one sibling Mary Fowlie. Predeceased by siblings and their spouses, Raymond Krusky (Winnifred), Ruth Kerr (John), Geraldine Withers (Ken), Dorothy Barrett (Bill), Basil Krusky (Evelyn), Jack Krusky (Dorothy), and Allan Krusky (Hilda).
Valerie worked at the Elliott, helping residents and in a group home on Woodycrest with developmentally challenged residents which she found very fulfilling throughout her career. She retired in her late sixties. Valerie enjoyed travelling to California and her favorite spot was Morro Bay which she first visited in 1987 with her daughter. She also loved her pilgrimage to Italy where she visited Rome and Pietrelcina, where St. Padre Pio lived.
She loved her Siberian Huskies and they kept her company when she was an empty nester.
She enjoyed singing and participating in the sing-alongs at Forest Heights. We loved seeing her sing Rhinestone Cowboy and some of the other classics. She also loved reciting the rosary with Cathy at Forest Heights and her weekly visit from the eucharistic ministers from St. Mark’s. She trusted in God and his abundant mercy and is now at rest with our Lord.
The family would like to thank the staff at Forest Heights for their care; love and support during her final years making her feel like their family. Special thanks to Oscar who could always make her smile. We also want to acknowledge our cousins Kathy; Becki; Nathan and Laura McPhee and their children for all the joy they brought to her in her later years.
