Vittorio Francesco Rota

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Vittorio (Victor) Francesco Rota. Victor as he was known by all, passed away peacefully on the 30th of June 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Guelph, Ontario in his 93rd year.

Victor leaves behind his wife of 69 years, Jeannine Fernande Rota (nee Brunette) and his daughter Deborah Belisle (nee Rota) and Jean-Louis, his son-in-law and caregiver. He also leaves behind his three grandsons, Andre, Joel, and Daniel Belisle, whom he adored, and three great-grandchildren.

Victor was born in North Bay, Ontario, on December 27, 1931. He married his lifelong partner in October of 1956. They lived in the east end of North Bay all their lives until they moved to Guelph to be closer to family in 2022. Victor worked in the family business, City Bakery, for many years. He took great pride in his yard work. He enjoyed chatting with neighbours and passersby over his meticulously kept lawn.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the doctors and nurses on the fourth floor of Guelph General Hospital and at St. Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care for all their care and compassion.

Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home. There will be a Funeral Service at All Saints Mausoleum (128 Golf Club Rd. North Bay) on the 9th day of July 2025 at 1:00 pm. Entombment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph's Health Centre Foundation Guelph in the name of Victor Rota would be greatly appreciated.
