Walter Lyle

LYLE, Walter P. (Retired Captain, Guelph Fire Department)— Passed away at the Guelph General Hospital on Sunday, January 24, 2016, with his family by his side. Walter P. Lyle, in his 85th year, was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee McQuillan) Lyle and the late Norma J. (nee Purdy) Lyle (September 9, 2001). He was the dear father of Walter Lyle, Randy (Debora) Lyle and Sandy (Barbara) Lyle, and he was the dear step-father of Elwyn (Vicki) McQuillan and Ivan McQuillan. Walter is remembered by grandchildren Richard (Kristin) Lyle, Matthew (Sarah) Lyle, Rudi (Jen) Lyle, Mary and Marlee, and by a great-grandson Lincoln Lyle, as well as seven step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. Walter is survived by his siblings Alfred, Anna, Winnifred (Jack Morell), William (Geraldine), Elmer (Marguerite) and Ronald (Sheila). He was the brother-in-law of Hennie Lyle and Ronald Bamsey and step-father-in-law of Lillian (McQuillan) Walker. Walter was predeceased by siblings Margaret Lyle, Marion Bamsey, Martha Reid, Albert Lyle, by his step-son Mervyn McQuillan, by his brothers-in-law Jack Hanlon, Joseph McLean and Jack Reid, and by his sister-in-law Doreen Lyle. Friends are invited to meet with the family at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St. N., Guelph, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Vigil for Walter will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Church, 175 Emma St., Guelph, on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
