I am very sorry to hear about Al.  He was a great friend to my father who always spoke so highly of him. We played many basketball games at Lyon School and he was just such a nice friendly guy.

I was greatly surprised when my mother, Clara, shared the news of Alan's death with me.  It seems like yesterday that I walked down the aisle as your bridesmaid. It was a fairy tale come true to watch the two of you.  How you met in Hawaii and how Alan brought yu back to the cold Mid-west to be his bride.  
Each time I visited, I could see the unending love the two of you shared for one another.  He was a loving husband and father.  I know you all will miss him.
My mother sends her sentiments, to your family.  I spent April 28th until May 23rd with her in her apartment.  She is very sick with cancer treatments and can not walk much.  She gave me the news of Alan's death and asked me to write to you.  Mom is sick but never forgets those she loves.
Barbara may you draw strength in the knowledge that you were greatly loved and deeply blessed with a lifetime of memories of Alan.

 Diane and I were most saddened to read of Al’s death.  Diane remembers him as being a most generous and helpful colleague at Lyons school at a difficult time in a difficult situation.  
When Waukegan Schools were making the transition to Middle Schools, Al was more than enthusiastic and supportive in making that effort effective.  I will always be grateful for his backing and ideas.  Al was more than a teachers’ principal; he was a students’ principal.  He could always be counted on as having the students and their needs first on his agenda.  And the energy that he had was sometimes dizzying.  A hard man to keep up with!  He will be well remembered.  His service to Waukegan and its children was a roll model and an inspiration.

Deepest sympathies from the Therry family.  Although I never had the honor of having Mr Mismash @ Lyons school, my brothers & sisters did.  He was a good person & really cared about his students.  He always had that big smile & a hello for everyone.

My deepest sympathy and condolences to the family.  Worked with Mr. Mismash years ago at Waukegan East High School.  A great man.

Our family is greatly saddened by the passing of Allan Mismash and extends our deepest sympathy to Barb and his family.

To the Mishmash family,
My heart is heavy to learn of Mr. Mishmash's passing.  Mr. Mishmash was my 5th grade teacher at Lyon School.  He was one of my favorite teachers.  I remember in the summer he use to ride the garbage truck on our street.  All of us kids use to run along side the truck screaming "Hi Mr. Mismash!".  I believe the last time I saw him was back in the 90's.  It was Mother's Day.  He and his wife were working at Midlane Country Club.  Funny how he still remembered me.  What great memories.  Mr. Mishmash was not only a great teacher, he had a big heart and he cared about the kids.  God bless all of you.

I am thankful to Al for the opportunity to student teach at Jefferson while he was principal.  His sixth grade staff made the experience very special.  Barb and Al were a wonderful couple and friends during my five years in Waukegan.  He will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers are with Barb and family.

Mr. Mismash was my first principal at the beginning of my career as a teacher at Jefferson many years ago.  He made an impact on my career. I will always remember him for his caring spirit.  My sympathy and prayers go out to his family.  God bless you.

Al had the ability to circumvent the paperwork required from the "higher ups" and get the classroom teacher what they needed to be successful. When he would shake his head in disbelief, jump up from his desk, and head out to get something for the teacher, you knew he'd get results. That was much appreciated by the teachers.
Our sympathy to the Mismash family. (We know those grandkids will definitely miss their grandpa.) Our prayers are with you at this very difficult time.

My condolences to the Mismash family.  He was my fifth grade teacher at Lyon Elementary School and I have to say one of my favorite teachers.  When I'd see him over the years, he still knew who I was and was pleased to see me.  He was a great teacher and man.  God bless you all.

Dear Barb and family,
We were very sad to hear about Allan's passing.  He was the best principal ever - I remember Allan shoveling snow, doing whatever it took to make Jefferson a great school.  I remember all the parties and fun we used to have. The last time I saw Allan was when I ran into him in Jewel.  He was talking about how he would never use the self-serve lanes unless they'd reduce the price of the groceries since he was doing their job:)  He will be missed.  Our prayers are with you, Barb.
