Anthony "Tony" Joseph Hernandez Sr.

Anthony Joseph “Tony” Hernandez Sr., age 76, of Libertyville, IL passed away at his home on Monday, October 17th, 2022, with his family by his side. Tony was born on February 12th, 1946, in North Chicago. He graduated from Warren High School in 1964. Tony married Kathleen Hoff in 1965 in Waukegan and she preceded him in death in 1995. Tony remarried Barbara Hoff on July 3rd, 1999, in Waukegan. He worked as a police officer for Round Lake Beach and was the owner/operator of Sunset Texaco in Waukegan. For many years Tony worked as a property manager for Stonehenge Farm. In his youth he enjoyed racing cars, riding motorcycles, playing pool, he loved being outdoors, especially taking care of his ranch in Lyndon Station, WI. His greatest joy was the time he spent with his family and friends.

He was also preceded in death by, his parents; Oscar and Violet (Lundquist) Hernandez, Two brothers; Harry and Ray Stickler and his sister; Gloria Yates.

Tony is survived by his wife; Barbara Hoff, three children; Tony Hernandez Jr., Tina Speck and Cindy (Ted) Sonju, 12 grandchildren; Matthew Hernandez, Amanda Hernandez, Heather Speck, Justin Hernandez, Kyle Anthony, Nicole Speck, Aislynn Anthony, Michelle Speck, Rachael Speck, Dylan Sonju, Ryan Sonju, and Evan Sonju, 5 great grandchildren; Isaiah Salgado, Waylon Kowalczyk, Elijah Salgado, Willow Rose Anthony, and Cayson Weidder, with one on the way; a sister, Delores as well as nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.

A memorial service for Tony will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, October 24th, 2022 at the Marsh Funeral Home (305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL). A visitation will be held on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family would be appreciated.
