Audrey Akers Madula

Audrey Madula 84 of Gurnee IL formally Waukegan/North Chicago IL went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday December 23, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 20, 1930 in Glomawr, KY. She moved to the North Chicago/Waukegan area at an early age and resided there until 2001 before moving to Gurnee Meadows where she lived until her death. She is preceded in death by her husband John, two sisters, four brothers and three nephews.

Audrey was a loving and caring Mother, Grand Mother and Great Grand Mother. She enjoyed being with her family, playing cards, dancing , bingo and most of all cooking. Holidays was her favorite time of the year.

She leaves behind her five children Gary (Theresa) Madula of McHenry IL, Betty (Alan) Lacy of Cantonment FL, Kathy (Rick) Potochnik of Winthrop Harbor IL, Cindy (Ed) Gerjol of Beach Park IL. Terri (Shawn) Thomas of Winthrop Harbor IL. eight grandsons, Christopher Midkiff, Jake 9Rebecca) Zbynski, Royce (Debbie)Madula, Luke (Dorian) Zbynski, Jared Madula, Joey Gerjol, Aaron Madula and Seth Thomas. One granddaughter Monica (Steve) Ochoa. Along with 16 Great grandchildren, and many dear nieces and nephews across the country that she was very close with. She has many friends at Gurnee Meadows Bldg. 2 that will miss their “card playing” buddy.

She worked at Goodyear Rubber Co. in North Chicago IL, retiring from OMC Waukegan, IL in 1981.

Marsh Funeral Home Gurnee, IL is in charge of arrangements. A wake will be held on Tuesday December 30 2014 from 4 – 8 pm at Marsh Funeral Home. Service will take place on Wednesday Dec 31, 2014 at 10:00am with a visitation from 9-10am at Marsh Funeral Home of Gurnee. Procession will follow to Highland Memorial Cemetery.

Thank you to Dr. James Monohan for all the care you gave our Mother thru the years. The family also wishes to thank Val, Barbara, Joan, Jessica and Kate at Midwest Palliative and Hospice Care Center for their caring and kindness during our Mothers last days.
