

Barbara (Edwards) Coad Johnson was born on June 2, 1930. Her parents, Walter Preston and Mattie Will (Turner) Edwards moved from Greensboro, GA. Barbara was born and raised in Waukegan and lived her whole life there. On August 14, 2013, at the age of 83, she went to be with her Lord & Savior. She was preceded in death by her beloved first husband, Lloyd Coad and her brother, Walter Edwards. She is survived by her loving husband, Everett Johnson, her three children Daryl (Susan) Coad, Daniel (Laurie) Coad , and Susie (Rob) Brown. She is survived by Everett's three children, Greg (Nan) Johnson, Jeff (Kathy) Johnson, and Brad (Nancy) Johnson. She will live on in the hearts of her ten grandchildren: Jamie (Josh) Reed, Joshua (Rachael) Coad, Daniel Coad, Andrew Coad, Haley (Cody) Fiedler, Robyn (Joshua) Alba, Julia (Seth) Taylor, Kristen Brown, Benjamin Coad, Rachel Coad and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Reed.She was also Grandma to Everett's seven grandchildren: Robin, Thomas, Lauren, Will, Olivia, Joseph, and Eli Johnson. She is survived by her beloved sister-in-law, Betty Edwards and her two nieces, Carolyn and Andrea.
Barbara began playing the piano as a child at First Christian Church. She recently said that the best thing she ever did with her life was play the piano for her church. She was an artist and painted many beautiful pictures. She wrote poetry which reflected her love for her family and friends. She was adored by many and loved having them stop by to visit.. Barbara loved the Lake, Waukegan, and her home. The legacy she leaves will long be remembered by her loved ones. Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 128 N. Martin Luther King, Waukegan Monday, August 19, 2013 from 10-11 am where a funeral service will take place at 11am . Burial to follow at Pineview Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to First United Methodist Church, Waukegan, IL.
