Barbara J Swanson

She was born on October 11, 1936, in Waukegan, IL, to Charles A and Ethel L (Pollock) Jensen. A 1954 graduate from Waukegan High School, Barbara worked at Equitable Insurance Company until her marriage to Clarence Kelly Swanson Jr. in 1956.

Barbara loved and enjoyed her family, but she also had many interests. Cooking was one of her passions, and she always made sure no one left hungry. She enjoyed watching movies, from classic black and white to Disney movies. She has many old Hollywood magazines and autographed portraits of her favorite movie stars that she saved since her teens. She loved all genres of music and loved to read romance novels. She has a large “Barbie” collection and was always ready to play board games with the Grands and Great-Grands.

A visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, November 4 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd in Gurnee. Interment private.

Barbara will be greatly missed by her children Michael (Nancy) Swanson, Sandra (Scott) Warner, David Swanson, and Susan Swanson. She was a very loving Grandma to Nicholas (Nicole) Sandine, Kristin Sandine, Allison Swanson, Quaid (Sonya) Roberts, Patrick Swanson, and Timothy (Kaitlin) Roberts. She was also the best Grandma BB to 14 great-grandchildren, with one on the way. She will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence Kelly Swanson Jr., her parents, and her brother Raymond C. Jensen.
