

Betty Lou Hickey, 94, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025 in Zion, IL. She was born in Chicago on December 5, 1930, to Willard and Anna Howell. She grew up in Waukegan and spent her entire life in Lake County.
Betty Lou began her career at Johnson Motors and later worked for the Outboard Marine Corporation. During her 30 years with the company, she advanced from a teletype operator to an executive secretary for one of the company’s top executives before retiring.
Active in her local community, Betty Lou played a key role in founding the Little Fort chapter of the American Business Women’s Association; where she served as chapter president and was named Woman of the Year several times. She was also an engaged member of the Altrusa International and the Gurnee Women’s Club and attended Saint Patrick’s Church in Wadsworth. Betty Lou loved Florida and often visited to spend time with her many friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia Kyritsi Howell and Sharon Hickey; her grandchildren, Jennafer (Jacob) Kummer and Brett Baker; great grandchildren, Kathleena Lopez, Ethan Baker and Frederick Kummer and her sister, Mary Ann Butler.
Betty Lou was preceded in death by, her daughter, Kathleen Baker; brother, Willard Howell; sister, Dolores Glabowicz and nephew, Michael Glabowicz.
A visitation for Betty Lou will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at Marsh Funeral Home (305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee, IL) from 11:00am until 1:00pm. Following the visitation will be a funeral service at the funeral home at 1:00pm . Immediately following the funeral, burial will be held at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum (1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville, IL).
