Chuck was born on November 23, 1948, in Evanston, Illinois, to Howard and Dorothy (Fisher) Russell. He graduated from New Trier High School in 1966. Soon after, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, completing 18 months in Vietnam, where he was awarded the distinguished Purple Heart medal.
In 1967, Chuck met the love of his life, Patricia “P.D.” Dixon, and the two shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised their two sons, Brett and Drew, and built a beautiful life in Northbrook, where they lived for 45 years. Chuck was a hardworking entrepreneur who founded and operated his own successful carpet cleaning business for 37 years. After retiring in 2019, Chuck and P.D. moved to Grayslake.
Chuck found pleasure in being outdoors with family and friends. He enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson on scenic trips with P.D., spending time on the golf course, playing bocce ball, and relaxing by the water. He was also a proud member of the Patriot Guard Riders and participated in the Lake County Honor Flight in April 2025, an experience he cherished deeply.
Above all else, Chuck loved his family. He was an incredible role model as a father and was always there for his two children and four grandchildren. He was quick with a joke, and his calming demeanor made everyone feel safe. A former gymnast, he entertained his grandchildren with somersaults, tumbles, and laughter. He was a good neighbor, a loyal friend, a wonderful brother, brother-in-law, and, to his wife P.D., the best husband one could ever ask for.
Chuck is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Dixon) Russell; his sons Brett (Stephanie) Russell and Drew (Elizabeth) Russell; his cherished grandchildren Emerson, Henry, Tyler, and Sophia; and his brothers John (Mary) Russell and Rusty (Shareyn) Russell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Dorothy Russell.
