

Retired Captain Clarence Eugene Myers, fondly known as Gene, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, November 26th, at home. Gene was born on July 31, 1941 in Radford, Virginia. In his early years he lived in Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio and Indiana where he graduated from New Haven High School, where he lettered in golf. In 1959, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and worked his way from being a Private to retiring as a Captain, over the course of 24 years. In 1962, he was stationed in Okinawa where he met and married Shizuko. They were happily married for 61 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence Wade and Virginia Mae Myers, birth Mother Edith Byrle Slusher. Survived by sisters Edith (Gary) Herberberger, Shirley Heath, and brother James Randolph (Erika) Myers.
Gene is survived by his wife Shizuko, son Donald (Lura), daughters Elizabeth Wyatt and Cynthia Ostrander; grandchildren Kevin (Cass), Christopher (Cori), Dana Morimoto (Max), Donald Jr. (Hazuki), Dale Schad, Elizabeth Johnson, Tiffany Wescott (Collin), Tabitha Schad, Timothy, Bradley Wyatt (Brittany), Briana Wyatt, Alicia Wyatt, Haley Ostrander, Tyler Ostrander and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 6 from 5-8pm, 305 N Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. The funeral service will be on Thursday, Dec 7 at 10am. All are welcome to attend.
