Memorial services and a celebration of life will be held for Dale R. Ault on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm at Marsh Funeral Home, Gurnee IL, with a visitation from 2-4pm. Family and friends were blessed to share their love and memories with Dale before he passed peacefully at home just after midnight on June 3rd.
Dale was born to Robert D. Ault (deceased) and Miriam (Rasmussen) Ault in Detroit Lakes, MN on August 26, 1954.
Dale is survived by Claire (Stefely) Ault, his best friend and beloved wife of 12 years; his mother, Miriam (Rasmussen) Hansen (Donnie, deceased); his daughter, Chantel (Sheryl Ault); his brothers, Dan Ault (Cinde Isaac) of Fairmont, MN; Mark Ault (Lavonne Campbell) of Baltic, SD; and David Ault of Mankato, MN., along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends - all whose lives were touched by Dale’s kindness, generosity and humor.
He graduated from Sioux Valley High School in 1972, enlisting in the United States Navy that same year, and proudly serving his country for 24 years until his retirement as CWO4 in 1996.
The next phase of his career brought him to Naval Station Great Lakes as a civilian where he continued his focus on ensuring the safety of our nation’s military personnel. As Warehouse Manager at Hazmin Center, Dale was responsible for controlling hazardous materials used aboard Naval Station Great Lakes. He officially retired from the workforce on April 30, 2016 as Safety & Occupational Health Manager for the Department of the Navy.
Dale touched everyone who knew him. His passions centered on the hobbies and interests that build camaraderie with family and friends, old and new.
He never tired of refining recipes for the perfect BBQ to be enjoyed with friends, family and campers he met on get-aways with Claire. He also enjoyed riding the back roads on his Harley, as well as NASCAR and off-road events and, of course, watching his beloved Vikings.
Dale loved to regale us with stories from his life, beginning with his childhood antics from his hometown of Welcome, MN, through his Navy days, and beyond . . . He never lost his love for creating elaborate pranks – and when his eyes twinkled and his broad smile gave way to his infectious laugh, everyone knew it was time to muster for the story of his latest mischievous escapade. He delighted in sharing his photos across social media, and everyone was a potential target for his innovative Photoshop handiwork.
A lifetime is not long enough to have known this honorable man. Godspeed on your final journey to peaceful, eternal waters. Fair winds and Following Seas to our beloved sailor.
