
Daniel Craig Christensen, 65, passed away Sept. 21, 2014, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He was born March 10, 1949, in Des Moines, IA. He was a member of the Illinois Principals Association (IPA), the Train Collectors Association (TCA), Centre Club, Fit Nation, Hall of Fame at Abraham Lincoln High School and Mankato University. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE). Past alumni at Mankato University and the University of Iowa, working on his Doctorate in Champaign, IL at the University of Illinois. He authored Above and Beyond book and others. He held the title of Mr. Iowa, Mr. Minnesota, Mr. Midwest, coach status for football and track, and held records in pole vaulting. His hobbies were restoring cars and train collecting (standard gauge), he was an avid race car enthusiast, animal lover, bodybuilder, enjoyed gardening and was a master of mechanics. He was the husband of Annie Christensen; father of Brian and Brad of Wisconsin and Kimberly Johnson of California; brother of Susan (Larry) Bridell and Judy (John) Weddle; uncle of Lacey (Troy) Dunning and their daughter, Briley, and Chris (Chelsea) Baker and their son, Boone. He also leaves many other cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Visitation Wednesday, Sept. 24, 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Road, Gurnee. Pastor Wayne John of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Waukegan will officiate. Interment Highland Memorial Park.
