Diane L. Sargent

Diane was born on February 1, 1942 in Waukegan to Harold and Kathleen (Givens) Phalin. She graduated from Holy Child High School in 1960. She worked as a bank teller until her mid-20’s.

Diane Married Clifton Sargent on May 20th, 1967 and together, they shared a life filled with countless cherished memories, and their love was a testament to the enduring power of commitment.

While raising their daughters, Diane started babysitting along with a few other friends in her neighborhood. They would meet up in the mornings for their coffee clutch, watching the children and making sure their needs were seen to. She babysat for many years, and when she wasn’t busy doing that, she worked in the cafeteria at Immaculate Conception School in Waukegan.

She was a caring mother who could always be found cheering her daughters on during their sporting events. She loved to spoil her girls on Christmas and never failed to make it a special day. She loved her grandchildren and enjoyed cooking with them and passing down recipes.

She will be greatly missed by all who were so fortunate to know and love her.

Diane is survived by her daughters, Debbie (Ron) Grant, Donna Sargent, and Linda Hernandez; grandchildren Garrett (Hayley) Grant, Nicole Grant, Craig Grant, Ronnie Grant Jr., Scott Prokopek, Diane Prokopek, Caden Hernandez, and Meagan Hernandez; great-grandsons Teo, Koa, Sawyer, and Thatcher; as well as other family and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Harold and Kathleen Phalin, her husband of 56 years, Clifton Sargent; sister Monica Pavlick, and son-in-law Gilbert Hernandez.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 31st from 3:00 - 7:00 PM with a Time of Sharing around 6:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd, Gurnee IL. Interment will be at a later date.
