Domingo Garza

Domingo "Sonny" Garza age 56, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away on Wednesday January 27th, 2016 surrounded by his loving spouse, Maria, daughters, his sister Bertha Lopez, her husband Jesus Lopez, and their sons Jesse and Johnny at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin due to medical complications. Domingo was born on August 30th, 1959 in Mexico. He graduated from Waukegan East High School in 1977. Domingo met and fell in love with Maria Isabel (Mari) Mendez and they married at Saint Joseph Parish in 1985. They resided in Waukegan, where they were parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church and later Most Blessed Trinity Parish. He assisted at the parish by coaching his daughters’ various teams. Domingo was a retiree of AT&T after 32 years of employment. He served 2 separate terms as a Waukegan School Board member, ran for 5th Ward aldermanic position, and was always a huge advocate for the Waukegan community.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Maria Garza, daughters Veronica (Salomon)

De La Cruz, and Erica, Kimberly and Marissa from Waukegan, IL. He is also survived by his sister Bertha (Jesus) Lopez and extended family. Domingo was a loving husband, father, and friend to all. He loved to travel, drive his Mustang, and attend community affairs.

He was preceded in death by his parents Roberto and Celia, and sister Marie.

The visitation and funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Most Blessed Trinity Church, located at 450 Keller Ave, Waukegan, Illinois. Visitation will be from 9:00 -10:45 a.m. with the Holy Mass commencing at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Ascension Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
