

Dorothy Jeanette (Watson) McClure, 97, passed on to our Lord on Friday, January 11, 2013. Dorothy was born December 24, 1915 in Zion, IL. She and Herbert were married February 8, 1936 during an enormous snow storm. Dottie and Herb lived in Gurnee most of their married life. They enjoyed retirement being snowbirds at their winter home in Arizona. She became a beautician doing finger waves and mechanical permanent waves. Dorothy ran her own shop for many years in her home. She went to work in shipping for Midwest American Dental Supply Co. and retired from there in 1980. Dorothy was the middle child of three born to Martha (nee Gonyo) and David Watson. Some of her most enjoyable times were: as secretary of the South Side Athletic Club, and the Thursday night bowling league and all their parties; golfing with her sister, Vi and friends, Joyce Regis and Laura Koskie, the summer long family croquet tournaments and weekly card games, huge family summer picnics and winter dinners, collecting ornaments from her Christmas birthday cakes, knitting sweaters and afghans with special designs and perfecting many other crafts She will be sorely missed by her sister, Violette Bartlett; niece, Roxana (Jack) Giernoth of Waukegan; and nephew, Larry (Penny) Bartlett of Tennessee. She is survived by her loving daughter, Margaret (Charles) Barnes (nee Peggy); two grandchildren, Kimberly (Andy) Vande Walle of Green Bay, and Scott (Denise) Barnes of Zion; one great-grandchild, Tristan Barnes of Zion; numerous great-nieces and nephews. Preceding her to Heaven were her parents, Martha and David Watson; her dear husband of 61 years, Herbert; brother, Anthony Watson; brothers-in-law, Greg Bartlett, George McClure, Tom McClure, Bill Peterson; sisters-in-law, Florence Peterson, Jean Watson, Bess McClure, Gunhill Smith. Dorothy is a longstanding member of Trinity United Lutheran Church of Waukegan, which she attended regularly with her sister, Vi, when they were in better health. Visitation: 1 - 2 P.M.
