Edith L. Voigt, affectionately known as Ede to her friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, two days before her 99th birthday at Gurnee Place Memory Care in Gurnee IL. Ede’s extraordinary journey through life was defined by her unwavering faith and her deep love for her family.
Ede’s life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the love of family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 74 years, Vernon, with whom she shared a lifetime of devotion and partnership. She is also survived by her children, Robert, William and Susan and their spouses Lois, Rose and John, along with 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Ede was also loved by countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members as well as members of her church family, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
A viewing will be held at the Village Church of Gurnee, 1319 Hunt Club Road, Gurnee IL 60031 from 9:30 am on Friday, August 21, followed by a funeral service at 10:30 am, officiated by Pastor Brandon Smith. The service will be followed by a brief luncheon at the church for the family. Later in the day, a burial service will be held in Fond du Lac WI at 4:00 pm at Rienzi Cemetery, N6101 Hwy K, Fond du Lac WI 54935. Pastor Phillip Enderle, Hope Lutheran Church, will officiate. Friends are encouraged to join the family at the burial site.
Memorial contributions may be made to "Hope Lutheran Church" in Fond du Lac WI either as a general gift or as a directed gift to “Missionary Support” in Ede Voigt’s memory.
