Felix Bonilla 72, passed away peacefully in Park Ridge IL. Felix was born December 22, 1952 to his parents Anastacio Bonilla and Carmen Heredia in Villalba, PR. Felix studied at Ponce High. Felix grew up surrounded by a large and lively family with 11 brothers and 13 sisters. Felix learned early what it meant to share, to support one another, and to stand together through life’s challenges - values he carried with him forever.
In 1970, Felix made a brave and hopeful move to Waukegan, Illinois, beginning a new chapter that would shape not only his own future, but the future of generations after him. Three years later, in 1973, he married, Elizabeth Bonilla and built a family he adored. He became the proud father of Felix Alexis Bonilla and Elizabeth Angelic Bonilla-Breve (Leo)
Felix had determination, discipline and a deep belief in hard work. Felix opened Felix Towing and Auto Repair in 1978. What he built was more than a business — it was a place where people felt taken care of, respected, and treated like family. He became a trusted figure in his community, not just for his skill, but for his heart. Whether someone needed help on the road, advice, or simply a friendly voice, Felix was always there. His generosity was quiet but constant, a reflection of his character. After decades of dedication, Felix retired in 2018, leaving behind a legacy of service, commitment, and kindness.
Felix is survived by his children, grandchildren and one great grandson Angel Antonio. He also leaves behind many loving relatives. Felix will be missed tremendously.
Felix is preceded in death by his parents Anastacio Bonilla and Carmen Heredia; his brothers Ramon Bonilla, Luis Reyes-Heredia; his sisters Toya Bonilla, Helen Bonilla, Olga Bonilla, Ana Bonilla; grandson Angel Pitts
Today we honor his journey, we celebrate his legacy, and we hold tight to the memories he gifted us. Though he is no longer physically with us, the music he loved so dearly — and the love he shared so generously — will continue to echo in our hearts. Felix was a true Salsa fanatic.
May he rest in peace, and may we carry forward the rhythm of the life he lived so beautifully.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to everyone for all the love and support during this difficult time.
