Gonzalo A. Martinez

He was born on October 25 1946 in La Luz, Michoacan Mexico, to Ambrosio Martinez and Carmen Alvarez. Gonzalo worked at Stone Container in North Chicago for 31 years.

He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Maria Esther Martinez along with his four children; Gonzalo Martinez Jr (Ana), Julio Martinez Sr. ( Maricela), Nora Martinez, and Marco Martinez (Isela); three brothers, Ambrosio (Hortencia) Martinez, Jesus (Caro) Martinez and Gumersindo (Elisa) Martinez, five sisters; Maria Del Carmen (Arturo) Gomez, Bertha (Mariano) Zungia, Maria Farfan, Susana (Joel) Fajardo, Veronica (Ignacio) Morales and ten grandchildren; BreAshley Martinez, Julio Martinez Jr, Jasmin Martinez, Evenie (Devin) Melendez, Isela (Anthony) Martinez, Abigail Martinez, Adriana Martinez, Melina Martinez, Emma Martinez, Michael Martinez, six great grandchildren and a host of nephew and nieces. Gonzalo is preceded in death by his son Carlos Martinez, his parents; Ambrosio Martinez and Carmen Alvarez, two sisters; Guadalupe Martinez and Soledad Martinez Mancera and three nephews; Jesus Zuniga, Fernando Morales, and Christian Parada.

Gonzalo lived his life providing for his family as well as others. He was an amazing son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He took pride in where he came from and showed that through stories he would tell his children and grandchildren. He was easily gratified by small things as long as his family was good. He had a love for sports, especially for soccer. He loved it so much he played for the local team Aztecas. If you knew him, you would know his favorite team was Las Chivas. We welcome you to participate by wearing your favorite soccer team shirt for the visitation.

A visitation for Gonzalo will be held Friday, January 10, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031. A funeral service will occur Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Most Blessed Trinity Parish; Holy Family Catholic Church, 450 Keller Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085. Burial at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048.
