
Harold Edward Vollmer, Jr. (J.R.) 40 years old, of Gurnee, Illinois, passed away suddenly at home on June 17, 2010. He was born on November 1, 1969 in Waukegan, Illinois. J.R. was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Waukegan, Illinois. He graduated from Warren Township High School in 1987, then went on to graduate from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree. J.R. joined Allstate Life Insurance Company in Northbrook, Illinois in 1991. He worked as a Research Consultant for the Agency Sales Department, where his dedication to his company and his colleagues was apparent to all who knew him. J.R was well known as a patient and helpful mentor to many. Family always came first for J.R. He was always there when anyone needed help. J.R. loved spending time in the Northwoods of Wisconsin with his family, freshwater fishing for musky and bass on High Lake. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan. He was very proud to have taken his whole family to a Bears game last year to celebrate his 40th birthday together. J.R. also loved music, movies, the theatre, and great food. J.R. was a very loving son, brother and uncle. He is survived by his parents, Harold and Linda (Cribb) of Gurnee, Illinois; brother, Mark (Sonya) of Cedarburg, Wisconsin; sister, Stefanie of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; nephew, Mark II; niece, Andie Kay; and his grandmother, Dorothy Vollmer of Fort Myers, Florida. He will also be dearly missed by many uncles, aunts, and cousins. J.R. was preceded in death by his grandparents, Edward Vollmer and Harold and Gretchen (Lerche) Cribb; Aunt Diane (Vollmer) Becker and Uncle Harold Cribb.
