

Helen Lemae Rehm of Gurnee, 81, peacefully passed into eternal life while surrounded with family at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, on the evening of Wednesday, March 24, 2010. She was born in Huntsville, Ala., on Oct. 6, 1928, the eldest of five children born to Ella Mae Turner (Hill). She married John G. "Gil" Rehm Sr. on Dec. 4, 1952, and they spent 57 years together. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ella Mae Turner (Hill); sisters, Jean Nichols and Hazel Fletcher; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Lemae Wilkinson. Helen is survived by her beloved husband, John G. Rehm Sr.; sister, Doris (James) Nichols; brother, William Turner; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and countless friends. Helen leaves behind nine children to cherish her memory, Anthony Renee King, Robert Lee Booker Jr., Sharron Ruth (Timothy Paul Sr.) Ziemann, John Gilbert (Carol) Rehm Jr., David Alan (Rhonda) Rehm, Melissa Wilkinson, Jeffrey (Karoline Dawn) Rehm, Lee Richard Rehm and Catharina (Jason Brent) Small. She is also survived by her 15 grandchildren, Amy Shirley (Jeremy Thomas) Edling, Timothy Paul Ziemann Jr., Anthony Cortez, Andrea Cortez, Nicole Cortez, Chelsy Cortez, Gabriella Paulus-Lara, Amanda Leigh Wilkinson, John Ryan Wilkinson, Heather Lemae Rehm, Matthew Spencer (Erica Louise) Rehm, Kirsten Erika (Kyle Thomas) Roessler, Sydney Grace Rehm, Patrick Liam Rehm and Edward Alan Small. Helen met her first great-grandchild, Ashton Thomas Roessler, and looked forward to meeting her next great-grandchild, "Baby" Edling. She forever changed the lives of everyone she met. She cherished her family and friends, and one of her greatest qualities shined through the love, support and care she provided to all, particularly any child she had the pleasure of meeting. She taught us all the most important life lessons and showed us all how to live life to the fullest. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, where she was a member, on Saturday, March 27.
