Ignacio Castellanos-Melgoza, 65, went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born to Rogelio Castellanos and Carlota Melgoza in La Luz, Michoacan, Mexico. At the age of 17, he moved to Waukegan, Illinois where he spent the rest of his life and raised his family.
He was married to the love of his life, Marisa Consuelo (Chelo), on Valentine’s Day, 1980. In addition to his wife, Chelo, he is survived by 6 daughters: Jessica (Horacio), Carlota (Juan), Veronica (Luis), Daniela (Matthew), Karina (Raul), and Irma (Felix); 4 sons: Cesar (Dolores), Germain (Kristine), Eloy (Angel), and Santiago; and 21 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Ignacio is survived by 3 brothers and 4 sisters and was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Maria de Jesus, and his brother Santiago.
Ignacio’s greatest treasure on Earth was his family. He prided himself on being the best husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and son that he could be. Ignacio was happiest when spending time with his children, making his grandchildren laugh, providing guidance to family members, and cooking for family celebrations. He will be remembered for the love he had for his family, his tireless service to others, and his faith in the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3rd from 5:00-9:00pm at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, in Gurnee, Illinois. A funeral mass will be held at (Most Blessed Trinity) Holy Family Church , 450 Keller Rd, in Waukegan on Tuesday, February 4th at 10:00am with visitation from 9:00-10:00am. All are welcome to attend the services.
