James Edward Closs

James Closs was born in Chicago 1937. Jim served in the United States Marine Corp from 1955-1960, stationed in Japan was an aircraft mechanic. While stationed in Japan he met his wife Sue, they married in 1959. Jim and Sue had two children Susan J (Dan Dickson) Closs Dickson and James D Closs.

Jim transitioned to civilian life and started his automotive career with Uniroyal. He worked his way up the corporate ladder as a service trainer. Upon the closing of Uniroyal retail stores in the late 1970’s he opened Closs Tire & Auto Inc, in Waukegan. His dream was to provide honest service at an affordable price. We continue to service the Waukegan community as of today. James remarried in Aug 2015 to Lorna Andrzejewski.

In Jim’s spare time he enjoyed following his three grandchildren Danny Dickson Bryan Dickson and Morgan Dickson. He never missed a football game, lacrosse game, swim meet, no matter what the event he was there. Pictures of his life with his kids and grandchildren cluttered his house. He also enjoyed boating, snowmobiling, and of course an occasional beer. Jim was preceded in death by his wife Sue in 1998 and son James D. in 2015, his parents James Closs, Alice Muller Closs, sister Jean Closs Petrovic, brother Dennis Closs.

Memorial service will be announced at a later date once Covid-19 restrictions have been lifted.
