Jeanette L. Ricci

July 2, 1962October 7, 2020

Jeanette L. Ricci, 58, of Gurnee Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 7th, 2020. She was born on July 2nd, 1962. Jeanette was initially diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in 2011, and courageously battled for almost 10 years, against all odds.

She worked for the United States Postal Service for just shy of 35 years. She was an incredibly hard worker who loved to stay active. Throughout her life she found a way to be involved in the sport she loved: softball. From her high school team, park district teams, travel teams (one of which was inducted into the Hall of Fame), to eventually coaching her daughters’ teams, she brought her athleticism and passion to each team she influenced.

Jeanette loved her family above all else. Having a house full of family and friends were some of her greatest days. She is the youngest of 6 siblings and was extremely close to all. Her favorite memories to share were from times when they were all together.

This past February, she was there to welcome her first grandson into the world. She loved to FaceTime frequently, and spend the weekends with him, feeding him and playing together.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Craig. Daughters, Amanda (Jamie) and Amy, stepson, Ryan (Brittany) and grandson, Jason.

Visitation services will be Saturday, October 17th at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee from 8:30am-11:00am. Private Funeral Service for immediate family will follow at All Saints Cemetery (Mausoleum).

In consideration of the safety of our guests, Marsh Funeral Home will adhere to the current gathering restrictions in the state of Illinois, which allow 50 or fewer guests to enter the funeral home at a time. Proper social distancing must be practiced and all guests will be required to wear face masks at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear Stephen, Lloyd, Jeffrey, Kathleen, Patrick, and Family,

As the Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus, I offer you the sympathy and prayers of the Saint Viator/Sacred Heart of Mary community, as well as my own, as you celebrate the life of your sister Jeanette and deal with the loss of her physical presence in your lives.

As I read the obituary describing Jeanette as an “incredibly hard worker…who loved her family above all else,” an adaptation of a reading from the book of Sirach came to mind.

“Let us praise an illustrious woman,
faithful to her family and friends, strong in her love.
At peace in her heart and her world,
she has left us her good name, and we recount her life of praiseworthy deeds.
A generous woman her good works will never be forgotten.
Among her family and friends there remains a rich inheritance born of her….
Her name lives on from generation to generation.
We gather to sing her praises.
We will proclaim her wisdom and love of life all our days.”

Our hearts go out to you as you move through your journey of grief. We pray for you as you share the stories, laugh and cry, and find ways to celebrate Jeanette and the love you shared.

May memories of Jeanette comfort you.
May the knowledge Jeanette lives on in your goodness give you peace and hope!

Take care and God bless you with the gifts you most need!

Judith Wampach Amberg - Saint Viator High School Director of Alumni Relations Emeritus

My deepest sympathy to the Ricci and Smith families. I was fortunate to call Jeanette my friend, my teammate, my roommate and confidant. We shared so many good times through our life. I loved Jeanette like a sister and her memory will always be with me. The world lost a beautiful person, but heaven gained a beautiful soul.
