Jeffrey Paul Serdar

Jeff was born July 15, 1941, at Victory Memorial Hospital, Waukegan, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Cheryl (Pumarlo) Serdar. 5 children: Paul (Julie) Serdar, Matthew (Danielle) Serdar, Mark (Jamie) Serdar, Kate (Carolyn) Serdar, Philip (Brie) Serdar, 10 Grandchildren: Amber (Tim) Kamman, Samantha (Nate) Tebo, Nicholas (Julie) Serdar, Noelani Schmidt, Alana Schmidt, Anthony (Sara) Serdar, Jason Serdar, Annie Serdar, Luke Serdar, and Elizabeth Serdar. 5 Great-Grandchildren: Clifford Tebo, Warner Tebo, Owen Kamman, Keira Serdar, Logan Serdar; 2 siblings: his brother Neal Serdar and sister Sandra Scroggins and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Harriett (Neal) Serdar, sister Patricia Page, brother-in-law Gary Scroggins and sister-in-law Linda Serdar.

Jeff was a lifelong resident of Wadsworth, IL. He attended elementary school at Browe School in Wadsworth and junior high at Riverside Military Academy in Gainesville, GA. He attended high school at Warren Township High School in Gurnee, IL and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Kenosha, WI. He attended college at University of Illinois and graduated from Montana State University in Missoula, MT in 1963. While at Montana State University he served as President of Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity.

Throughout his life Jeff held numerous leadership positions including President of Imperial Mink Ranch, Imperial Animal Products, Illinois Fur breeders, Mink Breeders Association of Illinois, The International Mink Association, Great Lakes Mink Association. Jeff was also a Director of Bank of Waukegan and Drake Detective and Security Agency. Jeff served his community as Captain of the Old Mill Creek Police Department and was on the Newport Volunteer Fire Department and as a Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America.

Jeff enjoyed sharing stories about his travels and hunting, and most of all he was very proud of his family and loved spending time with them and friends.

Family will greet friends and family at 10:am on Friday, July 31, 2026 in the Narthex at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Wadsworth, IL with funeral Mass following at 11:00AM. Internment will follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville, IL.
