

John E. Garrett, 82, of Waukegan, IL passed away December 14, 2011 at Vista East Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1929 in Fayette, Michigan . He was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church. John was a commercial fisherman out of Lake Michigan, owned the Dough Boy and the Dough Boy Jr., which brought in perch for the city. He was also a member of the 44th National Guard of Waukegan when called upon to serve in the Korean War. After the war, he went to work for Commonwealth Edison and retired in 1994. John was married to Laura E. Garrett for 60 wonderful years and had two children, Keith Garrett of Ingleside and Kimberly(Peter) Katres of Lake Villa. He had three grandchildren who were his pride and joy; Georg Katres, Tatiana Katres and Alexandr Katres. He was preceded in death by his mother Mildred, father Maurice and his brother Rodger. Visitation will be 4-7pm Sunday December 18th at Marsh Funeral Home 305 N. Cemetery Rd. Gurnee, IL. Burial will be Private. In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the family in care of John Garrett.
