John Charles Gorsline Sr.

John Charles Gorsline, Sr, 85 years old, passed away on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Condell Hospital in Libertyville, Illinois. He was born on July 17, 1932 in Libertyville, Illinois, the youngest son of the late George and Ruby (Sutton) Gorsline. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Ronald Gorsline and Robert Gorsline. On July 10, 1954, he married Ruth Marie Keranen and just recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. This upcoming October 10th would have marked the 70th anniversary of their very first date where they attended a Libertyville High School football game.

After they were married, they went on to have six children and move to a farm in Gurnee where John enjoyed farming on the side while working as an extremely talented carpenter as his regular occupation. The family vacationed in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan at “The Cottage” where their children and their families still vacation to this day. After retirement, John and Ruth, moved to Burlington, Wisconsin with their little dog, Lulu, to relax and cheer on their Chicago Cubs and Green Bay Packers.

John is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Gorsline, their children: Ruby (Roger) Young, Peter (Tammy) Gorsline, John C Gorsline Jr., Paul Gorsline, Mark (Jane) Gorsline, Jim (Karen) Gorsline, Jeffrey Campbell: nine grandchildren: Sharon (Rob) Wichman, Kyle (Jennifer) Young, Valerie Gorsline, Ryan (Joelle) Gorsline, Jason (Sara) Gorsline, Luke (Andrea) Gorsline, Sarah Gorsline, James Gorsline, Bradley Gorsline: and eight great-grandchildren: Hanna Wichman, Justin Wichman, Keith Gorsline, Mila Gorsline, Olivia Gorsline, Ryder Gorsline, Taylor Gorsline, Samantha Gorsline: and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will begin at 6:00pm, followed by a service at 7:00pm with Pastor Meiselwitz of St. Paul Lutheran Church, on Thursday, August 31, 2017 at Marsh Funeral Home (305 N. Cemetery Rd) in Gurnee, IL.

John has chosen to donate his body to the Anatomy Gifts Registry.
