John Mangler, 58, passed away unexpectedly on August 17, 2021 in his home. He was born in Chicago, IL to Bob and Gerry Mangler (nee Delich) on October 30, 1962. He was raised in Wilmette, IL and lived in Gurnee, IL for the majority of his life. He married Faith (nee Lambrecht) on February 28, 2001 in Hawaii. Together they had two wonderful daughters. John was immensely proud of all three of his daughters: Kelsey (29), Brooke (18) and Lauren (14). John enjoyed being a very active part of his communities, playing Santa or a spooky emcee for the Oktoberfest hayrack rides in Grandwood Park, being a fiercely dedicated softball dad, coach and cheerleader for Brooke and her teams, and emerging as a theater dad and supporter for Lauren. He was so happy and proud to walk Kelsey down the aisle for her wedding last year.
He loved cigars, tequila, gin, guns, popcorn and GG’s stuffing! John could serve up the best line with a straight face and you never knew if he was kidding or not. He was always there for whoever needed him; be it family, friends, co-workers or his community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Gerry Mangler, and his brother Paul “Bonesy” Mangler (Jenny Black). He is survived by his loving wife Faith, daughters Kelsey (Ben) Blalock, Brooke, and Lauren. Sister, Barb Mangler and brother, Rob Mangler (Laura) and his Uncle, Rev. David “Lee” Delich; niece and nephew Julia Mangler and Ryan Mangler; cousins Sue Reed (Scott), Evan Reed, Marcia Braun (nee Delich), Mark Delich and Dianne Delich.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL. A gathering to celebrate John’s life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to charities of your choice.
