Born in Kingston, Jamaica to Delmera and Cecil, Kirk was loved and respected by many people in his circle. He came to the US as a citizen at 19 years old and worked 3 jobs to build his first home at 24 years old. A strong man with great pride, he was a devoted husband, father, friend, brother, cousin, and nephew. Kirk attended Lincoln College of Technology in Automotive Technology. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran where he served as a “CrewChief” and was responsible for repairing the KC 135, the aircraft responsible for refueling other planes mid-flight. He literally could fix an airplane!
Kirk was passionate about life. He rode motorcycles, 4 wheelers, he loved his “speed”. He always kept an admirable vehicle with wheels and surround sound which anyone can hear blasting his 90s reggae music. He was handy, versatile, a multitalented Jack-of-ALL-trades, including being a self-proclaimed barber. No training, no license, just confidence. He cut his sons’ hair and even his wife’s. Let’s just say the haircuts were free… and sometimes looked like it.
He preferred to learn how to repair something rather than pay someone to do it. He loved nature and was an adventurous person. He never said no to family time; the children and grands were always welcome at home. He loved to work in the garage and troubleshoot the vehicles during weekends and days off, and always seemed to have a weekend project that required multiple trips to Home Depot, Lowe’s or Menards. Kirk lived life on his terms traveling, camping and working in his garden. He loved plants, flowers and feeding the birds. He was loved by so many, whenever anybody needed help he was there to help them no matter the issue. Nobody ever bought a car without going through Kirk first.
He is preceded in death by his biological father Cecil. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother Delmera, father Ralston Harris, his bonus Mom Joyce, his wife Gina, 3 sons Kirk Jr. (Dariana), Kyler and Kollin, and 3 bonus sons Chazz, Chadd and Jay. He had two honorary brothers Roger Harrison and Carlton Mathis Sr., his grandchildren, daughters-in-law, and a host of cousins, family and loved ones.
The family of Kirk wants to extend a personal thank you for every kind word, text, love offering and prayer. Nothing went unnoticed during our time of grief.
