Scott was known for his love of Honky Tonk country music, classic cars, motorcycle riding and devotion to his family. He was married to his wife Mary Magnuson for 27 years. All those years Scott insisted they have date night every single week. He said it was good for a marriage to have an evening just for themselves and he was right. Many a plan was written down on a cocktail napkin.
There was nothing Scott loved more than hosting his annual family Christmas gathering. He'd sit at the head of the table and love looking at the house filled family enjoying themselves. Scott loved children and had such a knack communicating with them on their level. He was Bus Stop Dad, Bus Stop Grandpa, 4 Square partner and included many children on various projects he worked on.
Scott has such a dynamic personality and impacted many lives. His word was gold. If you needed help Scott would drop whatever he was doing and make it work. He was a master negotiator and was never afraid to walk away from the table. Even if it meant losing the deal which somehow never happened. He could either make you laugh so hard you could cry or make you so angry you wanted to throttle him. Either way he did it with a mischievous smile
Scott was born August 31, 1944. Scott is survived by his wife and best friend Mary, three children: Tracey Lambert, Krystle Noelle and April Magnuson; two grandchildren: Andrea Lambert and Luca Noelle and one great grandchild: Jewel Young; one brother Steve Magnuson and one sister Sandi Kangas. Scott was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Jewel Magnuson.
Scott attended Waukegan Township High School and a variety of universities. Fields of study included the law of labor relations and industrial employment and the management of mobile work forces.
Scott's entire career was spent in the management of transportation. Positions held were Agent for Greyhound Bus, President Lake County Air Freight, General manager Heritage Freight Systems and Division Manager Pace Bus. He retired in March of 2010.
Scott was well loved and will be greatly missed.
