Lynn Harris "Nate" Naden, aka “WIMP”, born in Waukegan, Illinois, created a lasting impact as a dedicated family man, who loved his family more than anything, a successful business man, and generous neighbor. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally Grulke, in 1957, and the two spent nearly every day together for the rest of his life. Nate was a hardworking and dependable friend to all who knew him. He grew up in a family of Lake County businessmen. His father ran a shoe store in Zion, and Nate himself owned several local businesses, including a Dog 'n Suds, The Pancake House, and a Raleigh Bike Store. Later, he dedicated over 30 years to serving his community as a State Farm Insurance Agent. An avid sports fan, Nate was an athlete, coach, and enthusiastic spectator. He brought that same team spirit to his many years of volunteering and club involvement: Rotary Club, Lions Club, Habitat for Humanity, and the "Wild Bunch Golf Club." As a ready volunteer and loyal friend, he had a gift for making everyone around him better. His presence lifted every group he joined. Nate was a living example of faith in action. He devoted many years to working on rebuilding his church, the United Methodist Church of Waukegan. This faith guided a lifetime of compassionate service to others, always turning his kindness into action. He will be lovingly remembered for his generosity, his unwavering support, and his signature toast at the end of many dinners filled with friends: "It has been a slice of heaven." He is deeply loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Sally (nee Grulke); three children: Lori (Tom) Frederking, Robin (Sean) Ruxton, and Jeff (Deneen) Naden, six grandchildren and their significant others: Mitchell & Stephanie, Kyle & Katie, Katey & Jesse, Matt & Paola, Kaylee & Michael, and Megan & Ryan, and three great-grandchildren: Lincoln, Wrenlee, one on the way and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale & Dorothy Naden, his brother James Naden and sister-in-law Betty Naden and two sons-in-law: Tom Frederking and Sean Ruxton.
