Marcela C. Hernandez

Marcela is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Sixto Hernandez. She is lovingly remembered by her late son, Daniel Hernandez, and her daughter Annette, along with Annette’s fiancé, Jim Anderson. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Daniel, Angel, Amy, Christopher, Nicholas, and Matthew.

Marcela dedicated 32 years of her career to St. Therese Hospital, where she served as the Nursing Supervisor of Surgery. Her leadership and compassion helped shape an exceptional team of nurses who cared deeply for their patients.

A devoted member of her community, Marcela was known for her generosity and commitment to helping others in times of need. She volunteered at Holy Family Church and found joy in gardening and reading.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee, IL 60031.

Final viewing and chapel prayers will take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 9:20 AM at the funeral home.

A Funeral Mass will follow from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Most Blessed Trinity Parish – Holy Family Catholic Church, 450 Keller Ave, Waukegan, IL 60085.

Marcela will be laid to rest at Ascension Catholic Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville, IL 60048.

Marcela’s legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
