Martha C. Coxon, 86, of Kenosha formerly of Waukegan, passed away March 18, 2010 at Brookside Nursing Home in Kenosha Wi., she was born September 7, 1923 in Mount Vernon, Indiana. She was a member of Our Savior’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Zion Il. She was basketball queen of her high school in Mount Vernon, Indiana and was salutatorian of her class of 1941 winning a scholarship to Purdue University. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Purdue with a BS in home economics. She came to Waukegan in 1957 and went to work for Dr. Wones the following year and retired after 27 years as office manager. She is survived by her children Bruce (Celia) Quinn, Carolyn (Doyle) Currington, Judith (Fred) Norten, Patricia Abrahamson, Hal Coxon, Charles (Nicki) Coxon, Janet Mason and Beverly Walker, grandmother of 25 plus and great grandmother of 27 plus, two nieces and one nephew, preceded in death by her husband Albert V. Coxon Jr., two sisters Ruth C. Hamula and Wilma McGrew, Visitation 5-8 pm Tuesday and 10-11 am Wednesday at Marsh Funeral Home 305 Cemetery Rd., Gurnee Il. Service 11:00 am Wednesday at Marsh Funeral Home, Pastor Jack Kelly officiating.
